MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE
To the mighty Americans in the US Army
The fighting flyers of the Air Force,
The guardians of the sea in the Coast Guard and Navy
To the fearless in the US Marine Corps.
For all that you have been through
For all you have sacrificed,
For all the relentless memories
Too horrible to describe.
For those left maimed and disfigured
Their bodies no longer whole,
For those pushed beyond their limits
Their minds now out of control.
For those who have returned home
For those still under attack,
For those like my Daddy
Who never made it back.
We owe you our very lives
All the freedoms we take for granted,
For without the keepers of America
The land of the free would soon vanish.
It goes too often without saying
To those who would fight and die,
To keep Old Glory waving
To keep our eagle flying high,
How profoundly great is your service
And we should be down on our knees,
Thanking the Lord above us
For those who keep us free.
And to my beloved Daddy
Who I miss more and more each day,
The American flag is flying
Over the ground where you lay today.
