Shattered Lives

by Stephanie
(Columbus, GA USA)

I can't believe
I've allowed this for so long,
But I hoped you'd stop drinking
Now I know I was wrong.

Sexually & financially you abandoned me
For weeks at a time,
But when it came to loving her
She could always get your last dime.

I hate it had to come to this,
But I'm showing you the door,
Always remember just one thing
You chose that worthless whore.

The love of a good women
Is what you now shall seek,
Cause I'm letting your Mistress have you
Seven days a week.

With not enough gas for you to go to work
I had to catch your slack,
But every Sunday you drove out of state
Just to get a damn six-pack.

She goes with you everywhere you go
She's made you such a slob,
You can't stay away from her 8 hours a day
You even take her to your job.

You lie & you sneak just to be with her
You even take her to your Mother's,
Just to be with that same old bitch
That took the life of one of my brothers.

I'm sick & tired of being sick & tired
So I gave you a simple choice,
But the only words that came through to you
Were the ones of your Mistress' voice.

She'll make you think you're happy
And become your way of life,
Refusing to be your Mistress anymore
She then becomes your wife.

In the end, she'll come before food
And it makes me very sad,
How could you ever love the bitch
That killed your poor old Dad?

You better believe
That the ax has finally fell,
And you and your Mistress Alcohol
Can both go straight to hell.

SAD BUT TRUE

It takes a strong women to walk away, and a weak one to stay. So you did the right thing and helped yourself by getting out. Sounds like there's no hope for him. I really loved your poem I too can relate. Hope you find happiness, Good luck girl.

GREAT POEM!

Some people are very slow learners. Sadly, when they do finally wake up and smell the coffee, it's usually too little too late and they have lost everything. I know ... I've been there.
