Box of Chocolates

by Barbara
(Dos Palos, California USA)

The box of chocolates you gave me,
Made me open my eyes and see.
The box was red,
So it got stuck in my head.
We loved each other,
We could go further.
In a shape of a heart,
A note said "We couldn't be apart."
It had 13 candies inside,
That made my heart glide.
Thirteen, our favorite number
That meant we can be together.
I ate them all, except for one,
Then I noticed our journey has just begun.
That last chocolate we shared,
And I noticed our love can never be compared

Most people shy away from the number 13. You two got guts. Your poem could have been better.

Good poem but why is 13 your favorite number?
