MY WORDS TO SONG
If I could set my words to song
With a voice borrowed from above,
Wrap in a melody spell-bounding
Impassioned with infinite love,
Would your heart stop and take notice
Would it be in a place with mine,
Could the two somehow join together
Preempting the ties that bind.
If I could set my thoughts to music
Empowering them far beyond words,
Imparting that special magic
That arouses one’s soul to stir,
Would you recognize the stranger
Would what is not become real,
Would you safely face the danger
Or would the obvious remain concealed?
If I could set my words to song
Would it take you to your knees,
Could you not stop a tear from falling
Could you not help but believe,
That love is where it’s least expected
The someone forever unknown,
A treasure lost never truly present
Devoted, it stands alone.
If I could set my words to music
If I could move you as you move me,
If I could make your heart hunger
Touch the essence of your being,
Then you would know what has been mine
My heartbreak, my cross to bear,
A relentless struggle a love survive
Never to know a moment shared.
